GCC Critique -

This drawing is amazing~ Sincerely awesome! I can nearly feel myself suffocating, no lie. I love how you made all the birds different colors and put most of the colors all together ( and to be honest the birds are adorable ). Those melting faces look so morbid and freaky, in a good way. I've always been a fan about traditional and digital clashing and you can definitely see it. But it's the only thing that I would've kept out. The gray area would've looked better in my opinion as a simple texture.

Thank you! I really appreciate your comments and your input--I have since discovered textures and agree that I should definitely have used them in the grey area!

This is truly amazing! I love the use of colors in the traditional part, not only how you outlined the birds in different colors, but also how you colored everything else. The idea of suffocating comes across as well (and I really like the bird in the lower left corner).

thank you so much! I wanted to make all the birds in the lower left, but I was challenged not to and see what I came up with :) I am glad you liked it <3

I really love this piece . When i first saw it i was amazed but the birds and the center of this itself. I love how you used all the different colors for the birds. It was a very interesting and unique idea and i admire your work.

Fantastic work. The drawing is gorgeous and the execution of the idea is spot on. Kudos to you for taking the time to draw all the birds individually. Their different poses and angles really give life and personality to the drawing. The composition is quite unique and I think concentrating most of the color to one section of the drawing really helps emphasize the concept of suffocation. I do like that the birds are colored different colors rather than left just black.

The only thing I really have for critique is the gray area. It's very flat, and so obviously digital. Not that I mind a mixture of digital and traditional works, but I think the thing I don't like is that the gray area is so completely flat it sort of clashes with the traditionally colored gray areas, which have nice marker streaks/textures. I think if there was a very faint texture over the gray area it would blend in more. Also, there are a few spots where the gray did not fill in completely (like where the outlines of the birds make a sharp angle and there's a bit of white spot where the paint bucket tool didn't quite reach).

I realize this is likely a personal piece so you may have your reasons for going with the flat gray background, but I hope my input is useful to you.

oh, and the birds are different colors because I drew them in different colors-using multicolored sharpies :la:

thank you so much! I really enjoy your critique. When I get the time I will consider touching up the gray area and adding a paper texture.

This is certainly traditional art! Props for doing all those individual birds, it was totally worth it rather than just cutting and pasting the same 3. It adds so much visual interest. And the contrast of the central figure with the birds is so interesting.

Wow.
Very creative. Very emotive. I like how you used a murder of clustered crows to convey the stifling feeling. And that melting face! Euughhl. *shudders* I like how it stabs across the picture, creating something like balance, and catching the eye. This is much better than it would have been with just the birds.

Keep up the awesome work!
